Yes, RateMyFraternity.com is absolutely free! There are no hidden fees, premium membership sales, or bandwidth caps. When we say free, we mean free.
2. So how do you stay in business?
Like many free services, we have implemented limited space for advertisements on the web pages.
3. What is the purpose of RateMyFraternity.com?
The purpose of RateMyFraternity.com is two-fold: to provide members and alumni of fraternities an opportunity to voice their opinions and experiences, and to serve as a helpful resource for incoming college students and those looking to join a fraternity.
4. How does RateMyFraternity.com work?
RateMyFraternity.com allows users to find, rate and write reviews about different fraternity chapters nationwide. These can be members and alumni of fraternities, or non-members of fraternities. Their survey becomes archived into a database and appears on the RateMyFraternity.com web site.
5. Why do some fraternities have more ratings and reviews than others?
We are hoping that in time reviews will become more evenly and fairly distributed. If there are fraternities you'd like to see more reviews for, please recommend RateMyFraternity.com to your friends!
6. If I choose to create an account, will my personal information remain confidential?
Yes, user account information is kept strictly confidential and RateMyFraternity.com does not sell or distribute information from its users. Keep in mind that you do not need to create an account to rate and review a fraternity.
7. My fraternity is not listed. How do I submit it?
Click here to submit your fraternity.
8. Do I have to create a login to rate a fraternity?
A user wishing to rate and review a fraternity is not required to create a login.
If you do choose to create a login, we will not sell or distribute your information to any third party, and your information will be kept strictly confidential. See our privacy policy for complete details.
9. How do I cancel my login?
You will not receive unsolicited emails and we will not sell your email address or information to any third parties. However, if you would like to cancel your login, please contact us and we will be happy to take care of it for you.
10. I submitted a review but made a mistake and want to change it.
In order to maintain the quality and accuracy of the reviews, it is against our policy to change someone’s review after it is has been submitted. If you would like, we can delete the entire rating and review, but we do not alter the content, wording, or any other information in any way, shape, or form. Please click here if you would still like to delete your review.
11. How accurate are these ratings and reviews?
Each rating and review focuses on a different aspect or experience of a fraternity and together help to paint a well-rounded picture. In addition, each review provides insight into the student body and Greek culture at a particular university. For high school students who are considering joining a fraternity, it may be important to ask, “Would I like to go to this university where a student in a fraternity would make this type of comment?”
12. Why would I flag a review for deletion?
We take great measures to minimize the number of suspicious and fake reviews. However, if you still feel that a review violates our Terms of Use, you are welcome to flag it for deletion. Our staff will look into it as soon as possible.
13. Do you read my survey before it gets published?
Please note that we do not alter the content, wording, or any other information in any way, shape, or form. We want the pictures portrayed to be as clear and informative as possible.
14. What do high school students think about this website?
Many high school students find RateMyFraternity.com to be extremely informative and helpful in their decision to join a fraternity.
15. What type of feedback do you get on this site?
Occasionally, we receive negative feedback about the quality and accuracy of the reviews posted on RateMyFraternity.com, but the overwhelming majority of our feedback is positive.
16. How recent is each review?
Each review that is published on RateMyFraternity.com has a date which indicates how recent it is.
17. I am considering joining a fraternity. Should I use this web site as a rush tool?
We strongly feel that each survey published on RateMyFraternity.com is an accurate reflection of a particular aspect of a fraternity. We realize that these reviews may not be statistically valid, and thus encourage you to consider these reviews only as a starting point, not as a basis for making a final decision.
18. What are the computer requirements to use RateMyFraternity.com?
Any computer that runs a web browser (for example, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Safari) can view and add content to RateMyFraternity.com. Some browser plug-ins like Adobe Flash and Acrobat Reader may be needed for optimal use of the web site.
